Nov 19 Statue and Shopping

We got an early start, leaving at 7:30 to start a train ride up Corcovado Mountain to the Christ the Redeemer Statue. After a tour of the mountain we had lunch and did a little shopping.

At 5pm we went for drinks on the beach and listened to Brazilian music. We then went to a flea market that was close to closing down. We grouped up with two other guys to go out to dinner. I’m not sure I’m using the right pronoun for one of them as he wore eyeliner, but oh well. Translating the dinner order took longer than eating the meal. Separating the changes on the bill was another hurdle that made me wish we could have picked a restaurant that understood our request for separate checks. But I guess that’s life traveling in a foreign country.
